About Karen

Introducing your Independents 4 Change Candidate in Cobh, Karen Doyle, has been an unyielding community activist for many years and is now taking her community service a step further, by accepting the nomination from her group Cobh Community4Change to stand in the local elections which take place on Friday 24th May.

As well as being a founding member of Cobh Community4Change, Karen is a founding member of the Cobh (Great Island) Historic Preservation Group; a leading figure in the struggle against water charges and is
affiliated to the Right2Water campaign.

Karen helped co-ordinate the resistance to water metering locally and is an organiser against the continued policy of austerity that has led to untold suffering in our communities nationwide.
Karen is supportive of The Blue Communities Project and aims to bring about an awareness campaign to highlight the importance of keeping our water for the common good in a sustainable way.
Throughout the last number of years, Karen has furthered her education by qualifying in Community Studies through UCC at Respond College.
She has taken part in numerous Political Economy courses run by
Trademark to help her further understand the history of economics and the rise of neo-liberalism.
